SKIN AGING - a natural process

SKIN is the largest organ of our bodies. It works as a boundary between the internal and external environment, continuously protecting our bodies from UV radiation, microorganisms, irritants or allergens.

Skin aging comes as a natural process with environmental influence,  we experience it as a loss of skin elasticity, thinning, wrinkling, roughness and increased dryness.

The process in our bodies is in fact a decrease in skin cells replacement, decrease in collagen creation and fiber elasticity. That said, being exposed to factors like UV radiation (causing  photo-oxidative damage to skin), pollution, temperature changes, smoking, unbalanced diet etc.. will enhance the skin aging mechanism.

The cosmetic and beauty industry offers a vast amount of products supporting the strenghtening of the skin barrier function, hydrating skin layers, prolonging the correct elasticity and benefiting from tensor effects in creams and serums.

The main purpose of any skin anti-aging treatment is to achieve healthy, translucent, smooth, blemish-free and resilient skin. The desired effect is a continuous and step-by step process combining multiple methods of revitalization, rejuvenation and restoration of each skin layer. This process includes long-lasting applications to achieve long-term effects.

As for the product's skin "tensing" effects, they are based on substances that are able to form films when they get "dry" on the skin's surface. The films then tense up and create a traction effect on the skin experienced as tightenning. These substances soften and hydrate the skin by drawing water to the surface of epidermis, in other words, making the skin look younger (wrinkless). Tensor effect products have therefore an immediate result on the aspect of the skin's surface appearance.

But considering the importance of other factors like our lifestyle, immunity, genetics and emotional and health state in general, daily skin care, protection against sun, pollution and solar radiation, no smoking, reducing stress, correct nutrition and diet, physical activity and common sense in looking after our own general health is a big part of the whole process.

To ensure the desired and long-lasting benefits of any skincare product, it is recommended its regular usage for at least 2-3 months. Some researches found out that up to 60% of people noticed positive impact on well-being, image, self-confidence and mood when using personal care products and cosmetics.

The correct daily skin care can enhance your skin's smoothness and elasticity, support cell regeneration and therefore temporarily improve your skins condition (nevertheless in order to prevent the formation of wrinkles and lines it is necessary to stop the degradation of collagen and elastin).

Nature has got some helpful tools we can use in our favour, essential oils are amongst them. Do you know which one is called Liquid Gold?
